Who would have ever thought coffee stain rings would be the signature piece in a visual portrait; we sure didn’t!
The artist who goes by the alias “RED” has taken the concept of a coffee stain to a whole new level and fused it with her own artistic approach to portraiture. She uses hundreds if not thousands of individual coffee stain rings to form a whole portrait giving it a very unique aesthetic quality and visual feel.
RED describes the challenges of using coffee as an artistic medium; stating that too little water would lead to rings not forming easily, and with too much water the rings would blend into each other, resulting in just a deformed pool of coffee.
Wow definitely a tough medium to master, but it looks like she has her craft down cold.
